HISTORIC MAHONE BAY

Mahone Bay was named after a french boat design "Mahonne" used by local privateers.

Churches and Schools were first built in Mahone Bay in the 1850's.  The town and the economy was thriving mainly through developing industry in forestry, fishing and shipbuilding.

Over the past few decades Mahone Bay has been flourishing with a focus on tourism.  The town is full of small businesses creating and selling  fine art,  arts and crafts, water based activities and fine dining experiences.

The Mug and Anchor Pub is located on the Old Mader's Wharf  which is a well known landmark overlooking the harbour.  In summer the bay is filled with over 200 sailboats and most recently,  a small community of boathouses.

Please stop in,  whatver the season,  for a traditional english pub experience, in the heart of the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
